Forest Home

Jr. High Creekside 2018

This year, our theme is “Life’s No Fair.” Our goal is to help campers get to the bottom of the age-old question, “Why does a good and loving God let bad things happen?”

Our main teaching verse is Romans 5:3-4

“We rejoice in our sufferings,

knowing that suffering produces endurance,

and endurance produces character,

and character produces hope.”

Through worship, messages, breakout discussions, counselor-led “cabin time” and solo times throughout the week, we pray that campers will have an opportunity for meaningful conversations that will lead them closer to Christ. Please join me in prayer that God would begin to prepare their hearts, and ours, during this “pre-season.”

Medical Forms

Please be advised, Medical Forms are ONLINE in our system, and MUST be completed prior to campers arriving on our grounds. Campers who do not have a completed medical form WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN CAMP. (In other words, it is recommended that you log-in to your online account and verify that your camper has completed their online medical form PRIOR to departure.) We must strictly enforce this policy as not only is it law, but also ensures the safety of all of our guests. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Recreation

All of these options are available to your campers during free time, weather permitting:

·         Canyon Park - Zipline, Giant Swing, and Skytrail

·         Swimming at the Pool

·         Lake Activities – Waterslides, Swimming, Kayaks, and the Blob

·         Archery, Laser Tag ($5), Mini Golf ($1)

·         The Den (billiards, ping-pong, foosball, board games, and more)

What to Pack

Please see the attached packing list for details on exactly what to bring to camp!

Corresponding Color Team Gear: During the week, we will have team competitions where students will compete on assigned color teams. Team spirit is an exciting part of these competitions, so students may want to wear their team’s color! Our team color is YELLOW!

Spending Money: Many campers will want to purchase souvenirs or snacks while they’re at camp. All of our retail options accept cash, credit / debit card, and Forest Home gift cards. Forest Home gift cards can be purchased through the Forest Home retail department or through the Roundhouse either in person or on the phone.

No Electronics: Because of our commitment to providing our guests with Sanctuary and Solitude, Forest Home is making the decision to remain a cell-phone free destination. This means that we will continue to ask all campers to leave all electronics (including cell-phones) at home and ask that all of our guests join us in our efforts to keep our open/public areas at Forest Home cell-phone free.  Forest Home will provide phone service to campers who have a desire to contact their parents, but generally speaking, children are not able to make or receive phone calls during camp.   If there is a situation with your child at camp that warrants parental contact (i.e. homesickness, injury, not cooperating, etc.), you will be contacted by our camp staff immediately.

This year, our theme at Lakeview is “Until All Have Heard.” It is our hope that each student will leave Forest Home this year equipped with the mission deep in their hearts to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ until all have heard.

Our main teaching verse is Romans 5:3-4

“We rejoice in our sufferings,

First Aid

You will receive an electronic Health Screening form via email one week prior to your scheduled arrival. Each camper is required to undergo a health screening upon arrival at camp. Please note that any ill campers or counselors should not come to camp until they are well; they may be sent home (subject to Camp Nurse discretion).

Medications:  Must be in their original pharmacy container along with written instructions from the Doctor. Place all in a ziploc plastic bag with the camper’s name printed on it. (PLEASE NOTE: If medications are not in the original container we WILL NOT be able to administer them.)
