The mission of the Be.at.I.tudes Special Needs Ministry is to walk alongside families and children as they navigate the unique waters of living with special needs. We pray to share in their joys, heartaches, and challenges with fellowship and programming that offer the love, peace, hope, and acceptance of Jesus Christ.
There is a place for everyone at Mountain View. We believe that children with disabilities should have the opportunity to grow in the Christian faith through a nurturing environment adapted to their special needs.
We offer Special Needs programming on Sundays for all ages as well as opportunities for inclusion into typical programming. If families opt to attend the 9 a.m. contemporary worship service, their special needs children are welcome to attend the worship portion from 9-9:30AM with them and then we will take them to their groups or they are welcome to start in their group at 9AM until 10:30AM.
Respite days, social “connections” workshops and sibling support, parental support groups and family fellowship are all part of the Be.at.i.Tudes Program.
Student Activities & Events
Special needs children and siblings are invited to attend monthly respite mornings and/or afternoons at the park, at the church or at a variety of fun locations throughout the valley for several hours of fun activities, games, crafts and snacks while parents are given a respite. Trained volunteers are partnered with the students.
High School Small Group
During the school year in addition to having opportunities for Sunday morning youth bible lessons, worship and activities, we also offer two Thursday afternoons each month for "a little bit of everything and A WHOLE LOT OF JESUS". These are located at private residences or in our high school and junior high room.
Connections Group: Social Cues
Many children on the autism spectrum or those having difficulty reading social cues are invited to attend these sessions taught by specialists in the field. This class is offered monthly on a Saturday evening and gives families the opportunity to have their child attend the program in a familiar environment while they are offered respite. There is dinner, social skill building activities, games and activities geared toward maximizing learning appropriate social cues. Cost is $30 which includes dinner and all materials. Small groups are divided by gender, age, and ability.
Together/ Adult Ministry
Adults with and without special needs are invited to come together in friendship once a month on Friday evening for a themed event or join us as we attend Young Life Capernaum together. (details on the Young Life Capernaum website)
