Current Elder Board

Andy Lim: I currently live in Gilbert with my wife, Jenna, celebrating our 27th wedding anniversary in Feb., and two lovely daughters, Jessica and Alicia. We have been attending Mountain View Presbyterian Church since August of 2013 when we moved to Arizona. I work for Transperfect in Tempe as a Korean interpreter. I was blessed to have been born and raised in a loving Christian family. I am a lifelong Presbyterian. My father was a pastor of a Presbyterian church in South Korea. I am also a member of the Gabriels serving as an usher. I greet people, help them in seating, and collect the offering during the service. It is a great honor for me to help the service running smoothly. It is also a wonderful experience to be the first person to greet people when they arrive for the service and the last one they see when they leave. I am proud of doing this job as a face of the church.

Berte Baker: I am originally from Granite City, Illinois. My husband, Carl, and I have two adult daughters. I have experience working primarily with women's ministries, working with events such as the Holiday Boutique (Co-Chair) and the Rummage Sale.

David Herzer: I was born in Milwaukee as the offspring of third generation German emigres. I attended the University of Wisconsin earning a degree in business administration/finance before serving in the US Army as 1st Lt. Military Police in Munich, Germany. I joined the church in the winter of 2014 and am now an active participant in many church activities, including Pastor Kirk's famous Friday morning Bible class.

Gus Miller: I was born in Oklahoma and attended the University of Oklahoma. I am currently retired following a career in Corporate America and private business ownership. I have taught several Bible study classes at Mountain View and regularly attend the Men’s Friday morning Bible class. I am a member of the Mountain View “Rescue Band” Musical Worship Team and also volunteer weekly with our Special Needs Ministry.

Mike Helms: I was born in North Carolina and raised by two amazing Christian parents. I was a career army officer for 26 years. I have had the opportunity to witness first-hand the workings of other countries around the globe. Having lived for 16 years in Germany, 1 year in Korea, 1 year in Kuwait with extensive travel in support of the military to South America, Asia, Russia and all of Europe, I have seen the reality of how very blessed we are as a nation. I have attended Mountain View since arriving in Scottsdale in 2012. I regularly attend the Sunday service, men’s Bible study, and Sunday morning adult education classes.

Dave DeBlaey: I was born and raised in Wisconsin and moved to Arizona in 1985. I grew up in a Christian home and our family attended a Presbyterian church. I can’t point to a specific time when I didn’t know Jesus as my Savior and I can see God’s plan in my spiritual journey and maturation of my faith. I am married to Julie. We have 3 adult children – Ashley, Lauren and Ryan as well as two grandchildren. I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology and have prior seminary training. I have been in private practice in the counseling field for over 30 years. My practice is currently next door to the church. Julie and I are very active and involved in the Contemporary Worship Service. Julie and I also attend Bible studies offered through our church. Julie is currently serving as a deacon. We feel very much at home here and have experienced great support and fellowship from this congregation.

Judy Howe: I am married to Harry L. Howe, I have six children/stepchildren, nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. I spent 30 years employed as a paralegal/legal secretary/office manager for my husband’s law firm. I have sung in the choir since 2011. I have led Bible studies for women. Most of the Bible studies I have led have been in a leadership capacity with Beth Burton. We have led studies primarily created by Beth Moore, but also by Kelly Minter and Priscilla Shirer. I was a member of the Adult Christian Education team for a couple years. I have been active in the WOW studies on Wednesday nights and in summer studies that were held. I have been on the leadership team for three women’s retreats that were held in this church.

Marylise Curet: I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York then moved to Scottsdale in 1992. I am married to Rich, we have a daughter Nicole and an active Boston terrier named Toby. I attended New York Institute of Technology where I received my B.S. in Accounting then Adelphi University where I received my M.S. in Education. My past work experience includes accounting, middle school education and adult ESL. Currently I am a Director of Finance and Administration for a company here in Scottsdale. My family has been attending MVPC since 2005. During these years I have assisted with several youth fundraiser dinners, worked at the holiday boutique as a cashier and in 2014 my husband and I joined the choir.

Steve Liming: I was born in Seattle, Washington and lived in that area until I graduated from High School. I chose Western Washington State College (WWSC) in Bellingham for my undergraduate studies, and graduated with a B.S. degree in Environmental Studies with a major concentration in Environmental Planning from Huxley College of Environmental Studies at WWSC. I married my wife, Susan, in Irvine, California and our son Tim was born there. We moved to Scottsdale in 1993, and our daughter Katie was born here. I started a part-time bicycle custom wheel business in 2009, and then retired from consulting engineering in 2015. I joined the Choir at MVPC in 1992, and we became members of MVPC by Letter of Transfer in 1993. As we were raising our family, we were involved in Children’s ministries, and would always attend Family Camp every fall. Susan and I attended Adult Education classes, and started with the first W.O.W. (Worship on Wednesdays) dinner. In 2010 I began a program of daily reading through the Bible in a year, and have continued that practice to the present. When I was called and began serving as a Deacon, one of my activities was to lead the Gabriels and I continued this for the remaining 2½ years of my three year term. Since then I’ve served on the Nominating Committee, and on the Worship Team.

Steven Bisbee: After 41 years together, my wife, Mari, was called home eleven months ago. We have two sons & two grandchildren who live in the Phoenix area, along with many other family members. Through business, military, and personal travel I’ve had the opportunity to experience numerous cultures around the world. Here in the U.S., I’ve lived in different states across the country, but I’ve always returned home to Arizona. I have been a member of the church since 2010 and am active in a number of different areas. I frequently serve as an usher in the worship services, attend the weekly men's Bible study on Friday mornings, participate in the men's mission program to support Phoenix Rescue Mission, and volunteer for special church projects as needed.

Laura Squires: I was born in the Bronx in New York and grew up just outside of the city in a suburb called Spring Valley. I moved to AZ in 1978 while still in High School.
