After a career in the business world, Kirk felt a strong calling to follow a different plan. He had been leading a Bible Study at his church and found himself enamored with teaching The Word and sharing about the life of Jesus. While teaching, Kirk felt the desire to know more about God's Word so he began attending classes at Fuller Theological Seminary. While at Fuller hoping to simply become a better teacher, Kirk found instead that God was calling him to be a pastor. He earned his M.Div and has served at a couple different churches focusing mainly on Christian Education before becoming the Associate Pastor at Mountain View.
Originally from Minnesota, Kirk has a strong love for the Minnesota Vikings and can be found carefully crafting the perfect fantasy football team. He also is an avid homebrewer, cyclist, and works hard to improve his golf game. He loves to spend time with his wife Shelly and three daughters, Alicia, Kylie, and Lily, who are all Vikings fans. His first granddaughter is due soon and he has high hopes she will follow in the family's footsteps to support "the purple."
Kirk loves to share life with people, whether that be grabbing lunch (or a beer) with a member of the congregation or putting on a superhero costume to bring to life the characters of Vacation Bible School. He is often referred to around Mountain View's campus as the "Pastor of Fun," a title which he happily embraces.
