Standing Nominating Committee

  • Ken Brown, Chair and 3rd year Elder

    • I am a lifelong Presbyterian, born and baptized into the faith. My family attended Windsor Presbyterian Church in Des Moines, Iowa, where I was confirmed and remained active through high school. My second faith journey began after college at ASU, when my wife, Jill, and I joined Mountain View Presbyterian Church in 1997. We have three children, all of whom were born, baptized, and raised at Mountain View and attended through college. Jill and I taught early Sunday School classes and remained actively involved in the youth program. We served as parent leaders for both the junior-high and senior-high youth groups. I have been an adult leader for twelve mission trips and spent three weeks serving at Forest Home, experiences that were deeply rewarding. At Mountain View, I have served as Deacon Moderator and Elder. I am currently in my third year of a second term on Session, serving as the Youth and Family Elder. I also regularly teach Sunday School. In addition, I have been involved in Men’s Ministry and participated in mission trips to Mexico. Professionally, I am an investment consultant to financial advisors, designing and implementing portfolio strategies for their clients. I follow the Eco tenants and strive to be a humble servant of Jesus Christ, our Savior.

  • Nick Matich, Co-Chair and 2nd year Elder

    • CHARLA AND I CAME TO MVPC IN JUNE 2019. WE ARE BOTH FROM MICHIGAN AND HAVE ONE SON, NICK, WHO LIVES IN CHICAGO. NICK RESIDES IN CAREFREE WHERE WE ENJOY OUR RETIREMENT HOBBIES AND LIFESTYLE. I HAVE SERVED ON THE WELCOME TEAM AND COFFEE TEAM, AND HAVE ALSO SERVED AS A DEACON AND CURRENTLY AS AN ELDER.

  • Barb Lund, At Large Covenant Partner

    • A lifelong Presbyterian, I have been a member of MVPC since 2002. Over the years, I have been actively involved in the life of the church, including more than 20 years in the choir, serving as a bell choir member, and serving twice as a Deacon, including as Moderator during my most recent term. I am a Flourishing Disciple and currently serve on the Mission Team as liaison to our partners in Egypt. I have also served on several nominating committees, including a Pastor Nominating Committee in New York. Originally from New York, I moved to Arizona in my late 40s. I am mostly retired now, doing some bookkeeping and administrative work while spending much of my time serving at MVPC and enjoying time with my children and grandchildren.

  • Lynn Wickens, Deacon Representative

    • My husband, Charles, our nephew, Mason Kulakowski, and I have absolutely loved being part of the Mountain View Presbyterian Church community. I grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as the middle of three siblings. I am the proud daughter of a firefighter and a data processor—both of my parents enjoyed long careers accompanied by a long, committed marriage of 49 years. Following my own passion for sports, I attended college on a tennis scholarship and went on to earn degrees in Finance, Marketing, and Gemology. My professional journey actually began unexpectedly during college when I took a temporary holiday job at JCPenney. That seasonal position turned into an incredible 35 year career! Over more than three decades, I advanced to become a merchandiser, a buyer, a gem and diamond inspector in New York City, and eventually a corporate manager overseeing product development, quality, and sourcing. I’m still keeping busy today. I work part-time inspecting merchandise for HSN and QVC, and I get to share my love for the game by teaching tennis to kids aged 4 and up. Our family is so grateful for this wonderful church, and we look forward to continuing to grow in faith alongside you all.

  • Kristina Read, At Large Covenant Partner

    • Kristina Read has spent the last 20 years as a Realtor helping families find their home in Arizona. A Tucson native, she graduated from the University of Arizona, where she met her husband, Aaron. Today, they live in Scottsdale with their three children. Ella is a sophomore at Chaparral High School. Camille, an 8th grader, and Roman, a 3rd grader, both attend Christ Lutheran School.Family and community mean everything to Kristina. She serves on the board of the Read Family Foundation, reviewing applications and meeting personally with every donor recipient. Kristina also holds a board position with an additional local 501(c)(3) organization. She has been an active member at Mountain View Presbyterian since 2024 and looks forward to the Mexico Mission Trip each year. With a genuine commitment to her community, Kristina looks forward to bringing her energy and perspective to the Standing Nominating Committee.
