Jerusalem is surrounded by the Babylonian army. All hope for deliverance was nearly gone. Property values had plummeted. Everyone was looking to sell, but no one wanted to buy. One of the few persons who had not lost faith was Jeremiah. He was willing to buy a piece of property that any day might become the property of Babylon.
