Sonya Hernández
Sonya Hernández serves as Mountain View's Pastoral Resident and Youth Director. With more than 15 years of experience in family ministry, Sonya is passionate about helping the next generation know, love, and follow Jesus. She considers it a privilege to walk alongside students and their families, building lasting relationships and encouraging young people as they grow in their faith.
A Tempe native, Sonya earned her Bachelor of Science in Family and Human Development from Arizona State University. She is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity through Flourish Institute of Theology while completing the ECO ordination process. In addition to her ministry experience, Sonya has also served as a full-time nanny and preschool teacher, giving her a unique appreciation for every stage of a child's development.
Sonya came to faith in Christ at the age of 17, and ever since, God has continued to grow her passion for sharing His love with children, youth, families, and the wider community.
Outside of ministry, Sonya enjoys spending time with family, friends, and her beloved cat, Boyo. She loves game nights, card and board games, and will happily rewatch The Lord of the Rings trilogy any chance she gets.
