Read Scripture: Matthew 6:9; Matthew 26:39

Discussion Questions:

1.      What do you think Jesus meant by “Your kingdom come”?

2.      How does praying for God’s will to be done shape our desires and actions?

3.      What are some obstacles to surrendering our will to God’s?

4.      How can we actively participate in God’s kingdom work on earth?

5.      What are some specific areas in your life where you need to seek God’s will?

Application:

God’s kingdom can come to any life, any marriage, family, church, or nation where people say “Yes!” to God’s reign and rule. Seek first to serve God and advance his kingdom. Do not allow any distractions to pull you away from your priority list.

As you pray this week, where are you seeing the need for God’s kingdom to come and rule? Where are you seeing evil and injustice? Where in your life are you broken and hurt? While we celebrate the reign of God’s kingdom come near, we also pray and look forward to the day when heaven and earth shall be one! Yes, Lord, “Your kingdom come!”

Guided Prayer:

Pray together the Lord’s Prayer and then pray the prayer below:

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors, and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever.

Lord, we earnestly desire Your kingdom to come and Your will to be done in our lives and in the world around us. Empower us to submit our plans to Your perfect purpose. Guide us in being active participants in Your kingdom work and help us overcome any obstacles that hinder Your will. Amen.
