Suggested Practice Examen

Can be guided at the end of our podcast and done in huddles or families.

Sharing the Examen is like giving one another the bread of life.

I hope you find this simple practice a way to contemplate the true Living Bread, who you are and how you and others are guided to how God desires to give you more life to share with others.

  • Simply light a candle alone or with others

  • Become aware of God’s presence with gratitude

  • Ask Holy Spirit to guide your heart and mind

  • Take a few minutes in the silence to ask yourself:

  • For what moment today am I most grateful?

  • For what have I hungered for or deeply longed for today? (Look underneath the physical to what the need or longing truly is.)

  • How has Jesus sustained and nourished my soul today?

  • How does being ultimately sustained or nourished spiritually feel?

  • How might I share this bread with others?

  • For what moment today am I least grateful?

  • How might I hold what brought me life (nourishment) today to trust in Jesus life-giving presence and experience his abundant life tomorrow?

  • Do this daily individually

  • If you can do this with a family or group, then have a roll or some type of bread on the table (by the candle). Allow time for each person to break off a piece of bread to share from their heart about their saving faith in Christ and then give a piece of bread to another who will then do the same.

  • If you sensed an invitation to be or do something with Jesus for the sake of others…, will you? And if you do, REMEMBER what that experience was like. Journal it.

  • Before returning to your huddle the next week, personally reflect on your examen experiences and come prepared to share...Listening and processing in community our “experiential knowing of Christ” deepens all our transformations in Christ for your own transformation, for compassionate service of others, and for the advancement of the kingdom.

  • He has come so that we might have life, satisfying life in abundance!

  • How have you lived as if Jesus’ declaration that He is the Living Bread of Life is true?
