Suggested Practice and Reflective Engagement suggestions:
1. Centering Prayer
2. Entering Scripture to see and hear Jesus in Jn 9: 35-41. (Some claim they can see… but have refused to see the divinity of Jesus and how He is the source of light to come back to the Father).
Enter as a person who has had Jesus intervene in a situation…
and/or as the blind man
as an observer watching the conversation of Jesus
as a religious leader
as Jesus!
Use all your senses with your Holy Spirit led imagination. Take your time…
then, have a heart-to-heart talk with Jesus using the questions below or your own:
Where in life might you be tempted to look upon and live as if Jesus was human only?
Do you know intellectually that Jesus is sent from God, his son, divinity wrapped in flesh? Have you accepted this truth or desire to believe in Jesus like the man born blind?
Ask Holy Spirit one area of your life and community that you need Jesus to turn on HIs divine Light. How might Jesus, the Light, lead you out of darkness and confusion into a being with Him on mission for the sake of your soul, community and world?
Continue to tell Jesus your questions, your desires, ask where in your life do you need His guidance, His disinfecting light for health and healing, … notice how He looks upon you, the sound of His voice, what He says to you. The blind man from birth worshipped Jesus…what is your response?
Are you willing to be sent and to GO to do or see or be whatever path Jesus lights up for you? Be ready to share with your group or family next week what Jesus, the Light of the World has shown you! Believing is following in obedience. Following is truly believing.
Aspects of a saving faith in the Light of the World
What did you already know about Jesus being the Light of the World?
What truth about who Jesus is have you come to accept in a deeper way?
May it increase your faith, hope, and love.
What after your heart-to-heart conversation with Jesus are you now desiring to do or join with others to be and do?
How might this lead you to live differently, and in so doing, what kind of person might you become? What type of impact would that have?
